Worship Pastor - Job Description
Position Title: Worship Pastor
Reports To: Lead Pastor
Position Type: Full-Time
Location: Knoxville, TN
Vision for the Role
The Worship Pastor at Riverstone Church will lead our church family in authentic, Christ-centered worship that reflects the heart of God and the heart of our people. This leader will be a humble, relational shepherd who builds teams, disciples worshippers, and creatively stewards environments that help people encounter Jesus.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Worship Leadership
Plan, lead, and evaluate all corporate worship gatherings (primarily Sundays).
Create worship sets that are theologically sound, culturally engaging, and spiritually formative.
Lead vocally and/or instrumentally with excellence and authenticity.
Encourage full congregational participation in worship, not just musical excellence.
2. Team Development
Recruit, equip, and disciple worship team members (musicians, vocalists, tech/media team).
Develop a culture of community, spiritual growth, and skill development within the team.
Create and maintain a volunteer schedule that supports consistency and healthy rotation.
Provide spiritual leadership and care to volunteers, including prayer, check-ins, and coaching.
3. Pastoral Contribution
Serve as a spiritual leader and shepherd within the broader church.
Participate in pastoral duties as needed (e.g., prayer ministry, baptism, teaching, etc.).
Collaborate closely with Lead Pastor and staff in shaping worship experiences and church-wide spiritual formation.
Attend staff meetings, retreats, and planning sessions as an active, contributing voice on the team.
4. Creative & Service Planning
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and other staff to plan meaningful Sunday services, sermon series, and special events (Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, etc.).
Oversee use of Planning Center or equivalent tools for worship planning and communication.
Work with Communications and Production teams to support visuals, stage design, and service flow.
Innovate creatively while staying aligned with Riverstone’s theology and culture.
5. Technical & Production Oversight
Provide oversight to the production and A/V team (staff or volunteers).
Ensure systems (sound, livestream, slides, lights) are functioning with excellence and simplicity.
Assist in equipment stewardship, upgrades, and training.
Qualifications
Mature and growing personal relationship with Jesus.
Meets biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1).
Strong vocal and/or instrumental leadership with a clear, engaging presence.
Experience leading worship in a local church context (preferably multi-generational).
Skilled in team building, spiritual formation, and volunteer leadership.
Proficient in worship tools (e.g., Planning Center, Multitracks, ProPresenter, etc.).
Bonus: Audio/visual or production experience.

Additional Information
Full-time salary with benefits (negotiable based on experience and skills).
Reports directly to the Lead Pastor.
Expected to become an active member of Riverstone Church and the Knoxville community.
