  • Create worship sets that are theologically sound, culturally engaging, and spiritually formative.

  • Lead vocally and/or instrumentally with excellence and authenticity.

  • Encourage full congregational participation in worship, not just musical excellence.

  • Develop a culture of community, spiritual growth, and skill development within the team.

  • Create and maintain a volunteer schedule that supports consistency and healthy rotation.

  • Provide spiritual leadership and care to volunteers, including prayer, check-ins, and coaching.

    3. Pastoral Contribution

  • Serve as a spiritual leader and shepherd within the broader church.

  • Participate in pastoral duties as needed (e.g., prayer ministry, baptism, teaching, etc.).

  • Collaborate closely with Lead Pastor and staff in shaping worship experiences and church-wide spiritual formation.

  • Attend staff meetings, retreats, and planning sessions as an active, contributing voice on the team.

    4. Creative & Service Planning

  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and other staff to plan meaningful Sunday services, sermon series, and special events (Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, etc.).

  • Oversee use of Planning Center or equivalent tools for worship planning and communication.

  • Work with Communications and Production teams to support visuals, stage design, and service flow.

  • Innovate creatively while staying aligned with Riverstone’s theology and culture.

    5. Technical & Production Oversight

  • Provide oversight to the production and A/V team (staff or volunteers).

  • Ensure systems (sound, livestream, slides, lights) are functioning with excellence and simplicity.

  • Assist in equipment stewardship, upgrades, and training.

    Qualifications

  • Mature and growing personal relationship with Jesus.

  • Meets biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1).

  • Strong vocal and/or instrumental leadership with a clear, engaging presence.

  • Experience leading worship in a local church context (preferably multi-generational).

  • Skilled in team building, spiritual formation, and volunteer leadership.

  • Proficient in worship tools (e.g., Planning Center, Multitracks, ProPresenter, etc.).

  • Bonus: Audio/visual or production experience.

    Personal Attributes

  • Humble – Approaches leadership with openness, self-awareness, and dependence on God.

  • Relational – Connects easily with people of all ages and backgrounds; pastoral in presence.

  • Collaborative – Values input, teamwork, and shared leadership.

  • Organized – Able to plan ahead, communicate clearly, and manage multiple moving parts.

  • Creative – Loves to innovate but knows how to keep the focus on Jesus.

    Additional Information

  • Reports directly to the Lead Pastor.

  • Expected to become an active member of Riverstone Church and the Knoxville community.
